A COMPLETE SET OF TESTS THAT CHECK: • Total bilirubin — how well the liver processes and clears bilirubin • ALT (SGPT) — enzyme that rises with liver cell injury • AST (SGOT) — enzyme found in liver and other tissues; elevated when liver/muscle cells are damaged • Total protein — total amount of proteins in blood (albumin + globulins) • Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) — enzyme linked to bile ducts and liver/cholestatic function • Albumin — main protein made by liver, indicator of synthetic function • Globulin — group of proteins including immune proteins • Gamma GT (GGT) — enzyme sensitive to bile duct and liver stress WHAT THIS TEST SUITE REVEALS: • Whether there is liver injury (elevated ALT / AST) • If there is bile flow obstruction or cholestatic pattern (elevated ALP, GGT, bilirubin) • Whether the liver’s synthetic capacity is impaired (low albumin, altered total protein) • Overall balance of proteins (albumin vs globulin) and implications for liver disease, malnutrition, immune status • The pattern of enzyme abnormalities can help distinguish hepatocellular damage vs cholestatic disease or mixed types • Monitoring changes over time to assess disease progression or response to therapy

Preparation
Strictly after a fast of at least 8 hours, with exclusion of fatty foods and alcohol for 24 hours. Water is allowed in the morning. Medications that affect hormone and lipid levels should be avoided (in consultation with a physician).
